The My BMW App and MINI App continually evolve, with five significant yearly updates.

These updates are increasingly vital for customers, especially regarding electric mobility and vehicle charging.

One standout feature is the Electric Vehicle Analysis, a decision-making tool designed to aid drivers in transitioning from internal combustion engines (ICE) to electric power.

Electric Vehicle Analysis: Switching to electric

The My BMW App's new Electric Vehicle Analysis function is a game-changer for customers contemplating the shift to electric mobility, allowing drivers of BMW ICE vehicles to simulate how an all-electric BMW would fit into their daily driving routines.

Users can assess the app's compatibility with their driving habits by selecting an electric BMW model.

The app provides a detailed analysis after the ICE vehicle has completed at least 200 journeys and covered 2,000 kilometres (about 1,250 miles). Analysis shows how many of these trips could have been completed with the selected EV on a single charge.

This feature addresses concerns about range anxiety and the practicality of EVs in daily use by using real-world driving data collected through the My Trips function. The data-driven approach gives customers a solid foundation for deciding on their next vehicle's drive system.

Future upgrades to the Electric Vehicle Analysis will expand its scope to include evaluations of vehicle downtime, long-distance travel and charging facilities, along with the estimated charging time.

Customers need a BMW with an ICE vehicle running the BMW Operating System 7 or later to use this feature. They must consent to the use of their driving data for analysis purposes.

Dirk Wiedmann, Senior Vice President of Sales Steering and Strategy, Digitalisation at BMW, states: "EVs can already be incorporated perfectly into the daily routine of many customers – it's just that the majority of them haven't tried it yet."

Enhanced vehicle-app integration for seamless experience

The latest update introduces several features to enhance the seamless interaction between the vehicle and the app.

Users can now set route-planning options, such as avoiding motorways, ferries or toll roads, directly within the app, with these settings automatically synced in both directions.

For all EVs, the My BMW and MINI Apps now support charging-optimised route planning, allowing users to add individual charging stops that synchronise with the vehicle. Additionally, the apps provide detailed information about facilities near charging stations, including restaurants, cafes, banks and supermarkets.

Charging Wallet: Managing charging tariffs

The new Charging Wallet feature enables EV drivers to directly select and manage preferred charging tariffs from numerous providers within the app.

When selecting a charging station, the app displays prices for available charging tariffs, helping users choose the most cost-effective option.

My BMW App

Comprehensive features and high user satisfaction

The My BMW App and MINI App have garnered widespread popularity, with 13 million users globally, including one million in Germany.

Both apps boast an average rating of 4.8 stars in the App Store, reflecting high user satisfaction.

The apps keep drivers informed about their BMW or MINI's status and offer functionalities such as locking and unlocking doors, activating climate control, sending destination addresses to the navigation system and using the Remote 3D View feature to view the vehicle's surroundings or interior.

Users can explore digital services and ConnectedDrive Upgrades in the 'Services & Store' tab. With the BMW or MINI Digital Key Plus, previously-stored manoeuvres and parking functions can be executed outside the vehicle.

Streamlined service and maintenance management

Both the My BMW App and MINI App simplify servicing and maintenance.

Users receive push notifications when their car requires servicing and can schedule appointments directly through the apps.

They support users throughout the service process, offering check-in, service videos, status tracking and payment options. In case of accidents or breakdowns, assistance can be accessed swiftly via the app.
