Be.EV & Paua Partner to Expand EV Charging Network
EV charge point operator Be.EV has formed a new strategic partnership with Paua, enhancing network coverage for commercial drivers.
The partnership will add 700 more charge points to the Paua EV charging network, significantly improving charging options for businesses operating EVs in the Greater Manchester area.
Expanding the network
The partnership between Be.EV and Paua increases the total number of EV connectors available to Paua customers in Greater Manchester to 1,800.
Of these, more than 1,000 are high-powered DC chargers, 50kW or faster, ensuring drivers have at least two charge point connections per square mile.
The partners
Be.EV, established in Greater Manchester in 2019, is the UK's fastest-growing EV charging network. Currently, it manages a network of more than 700 live charge points, with plans to add more than 300 additional points by the end of 2024.
Supported by £110m (US$142m) from Octopus Energy Generation, Be.EV focuses on providing reliable and accessible EV charging nationwide.
Asif Ghafoor, CEO of Be.EV said: “We are very pleased to be working with Paua — a company which shares our mission to bring EV charging to as many people as possible."
Paua provides drivers with access to more than 54,000 charge points at 17,000 locations managed by in excess of 35 charging providers across the UK. The extensive network reduces drivers' anxiety about switching to EVs, making it easier for businesses to reduce transport emissions.
Paua simplifies electric fleet management and charging payments through advanced technology, setting the standard for a national roaming network since 2022.
Niall Riddell, Chief Executive and Co-founder of Paua said: “Be.EV is demonstrating true leadership in ensuring that EV drivers are catered for across the country. Starting in the North and with the backing of Octopus, extending across the UK ensures drivers get access to high-quality, well-priced, reliable and green electricity. We are delighted to be working with Be.EV.”
Future prospects
As of June 2024, the UK had more than 1.1 million fully electric cars and 147,290 electric vans on its roads. With numbers rapidly rising, many UK businesses are still managing mixed fossil fuel and electric-powered fleets.
Charging infrastructure remains a key challenge, but the partnership between Be.EV and Paua aims to address this issue, ensuring fleet managers have access to a robust and extensive charging network.
Community engagement
Be.EV actively seeks new sites for community-focused charging hubs and encourages landowners, such as farmers, to install EV charge hubs on their land. By continuously expanding their network and engaging with local communities, Be.EV aims to drive the UK’s EV revolution forward.
This strategic partnership between Be.EV and Paua significantly enhances network coverage for EV fleet drivers, providing them with greater access to reliable and high-powered charging points.
The collaboration not only simplifies the transition to electric transport but supports the broader goal of reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainability across the UK.
