Ceer & Rimac: Leading High-Performance EVs in Saudi Arabia
In a ground-breaking collaboration, Ceer, Saudi Arabia’s first EV brand and a joint venture between the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Foxconn, has signed an agreement with Croatia-based Rimac Technology.
Ceer, the first Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) in the Middle East, is building a range of world-class EVs to serve the Saudi and broader Middle Eastern markets.
The partnership will supply Ceer’s upcoming flagship EVs with Rimac’s high-performance, fully integrated Electric Drive Systems (EDS), setting a new standard for EVs in the Middle East.
Rimac Technology, a subsidiary of the Rimac Group, is renowned for its expertise in electrification technologies, spanning battery systems, electric powertrain systems and advanced electronic control units.
With more than 1,400 employees and a growing reputation for partnerships with high-profile global automotive brands, Rimac handles the entire creation process, from concepts and prototypes to full-scale production.
The company is known for collaborations on advanced vehicles such as the Rimac Nevera and Aston Martin Valkyrie. It recently secured agreements for high-voltage battery systems with the BMW Group, expanding its reach beyond performance cars.
Supporting Saudi Arabia’s vision for a sustainable future
As Saudi Arabia’s first EV brand, Ceer is pivotal in the nation’s strategy to reduce dependence on oil and diversify its economy.
With substantial backing from the Public Investment Fund (PIF), Ceer anticipates driving more than US$150m in foreign direct investment and creating thousands of jobs directly and indirectly. Additionally, Ceer’s EV line expects to contribute US$8bn to Saudi Arabia’s GDP by 2034.
The partnership with Rimac is a crucial step in Ceer’s vision to lead the regional EV market by developing a range of vehicles, including sedans and SUVs, produced entirely within Saudi Arabia.
Foxconn, another strategic partner, will oversee the vehicles’ electrical architecture, focusing on advanced infotainment, connectivity and autonomous driving technologies.
Each vehicle will incorporate licensed technology from BMW and be designed to meet rigorous international quality and safety standards.
We are delighted to be the first company and large-scale project in the GCC to partner with Rimac Technology to equip Ceer flagship vehicles with advanced, high-performance electric drive systems.
Rimac’s global reputation and expertise in performance powertrains align perfectly with our strategic objectives to partner with world leaders as we bring top-tier, high-performance EVs to Saudi Arabia and revolutionise the automotive industry here.
Scaling up production for a growing market
Rimac Technology views the collaboration as part of its broader ambition to lead in global EV electrification.
Mate Rimac, the Founder of the Rimac Group, expressed excitement about the partnership: “The collaboration with Ceer further solidifies Rimac Technology’s global electrification ambitions.
"This year alone, we’ve announced several key partnerships, including with BMW and Ceer, which will produce tens of thousands of electric drive and battery systems for leading OEMs worldwide.
"With more exciting projects on the horizon, we’ve strategically invested in our production facilities, including the Rimac Campus in Croatia, which will soon be operating at full capacity.”
Rimac’s role in the Ceer project extends the company’s reach beyond limited-edition performance vehicles to include mid-to-large-volume projects, aligning with the demand for scalable and sustainable urban transportation solutions.
By partnering with Ceer, Rimac sets a foundation for high-performance EV production in the Middle East, showcasing how electric powertrain and battery innovations can be adapted for large-scale projects.
A milestone in Middle Eastern automotive innovation
Ceer’s collaboration with Rimac Technology represents a significant step forward for the Middle Eastern automotive market, highlighting Saudi Arabia’s commitment to energy diversification and sustainable mobility.
As Ceer’s production ramps up, the Saudi EV brand will serve as a model for other regional automakers, demonstrating how global partnerships can fuel innovation and contribute to a more sustainable future.
