Exclusive Video: Seabird Technologies’ proprietary e-boat

Featuring in the UIM E1 Series World Championship, the RaceBird is built by Seabird Technologies and powered by electric to decarbonise boat racing

Take battery power and set it off across oceans and you’ve got yourself a rather interesting sporting spectacle. The UIM E1 Series World Championship is shaping up to be impactful, adrenaline-filled, and technologically advanced—not to mention gaining interest from famous people, including Tom Brady who launched a team within the championship.

This particular motorsport is gradually gaining popularity globally and will showcase some of the industry’s most crucial solutions to sustainability through electrification and other legacy initiatives much like Formula E and Extreme E.

What’s at the heart of the championship is a boat that exceeds boundaries in an innovative way. It’s safe to say you won’t find anything like it outside of the E1 Series.

Designed and built by Seabird Technologies, the RaceBird is the weapon of choice for this sport and the organisation is finalising its method of getting this project in the water.

This electric powerboat needs no captain, but a pilot

In this video, we want to show you just how unique the electric powerboat is and the format that the E1 Series will leverage to make a significant impact on its host countries.

Working with partners across Europe, at present with plans to be global, the team is developing ways to support sustainability and commerce at coastal locations and bring more impact-driven initiatives to protect the world’s largest, most valuable resource.

“I'm really excited to see, as we launch the championship; to see how we can get people excited about boats, because I think there's a massive opportunity that's not being taken advantage of,” says Richard Draisey, CEO of Seabird Technologies, during an interview for the July cover story

As the championship plans unfold, we’ll be looking to share more insights into the UIM E1 Series as it takes a unique approach to electrification and motorsport.
