The AA has partnered with Rightcharge for EV charging solutions
The AA and Rightcharge are transforming EV operations with accurate reimbursements, public charging access and data-driven sustainability insights

In a significant move in the sustainability space, the AA, the UK’s largest motoring organisation, has partnered with Rightcharge as its official supplier for home-charging reimbursement and public charging services.

The collaboration aims to enhance the convenience and efficiency of EV operations for The AA’s roadside assistance teams while advancing its journey toward net-zero emissions by 2035.

A comprehensive EV charging solution

The partnership introduces the Rightcharge public charge card, allowing AA drivers to seamlessly pay for charging at 38 public networks using company funds.

Alongside this, drivers receive a monthly credit applied directly to their energy bills, ensuring that the costs of charging their work vehicles are covered.

Rightcharge, founded in 2019, is renowned for its market-leading EV charging payment solutions. The company’s focus on sustainability and operational efficiency makes it an ideal partner for businesses transitioning to EVs.

Superior reimbursement accuracy

Rightcharge’s home reimbursement system sets a new standard in the market.

Unlike many other suppliers, Rightcharge integrates directly with energy providers, eliminating the need for employees to manually update tariff or provider changes.

Whether or not drivers use a smart metre, Rightcharge ensures real-time data flows directly from providers, removing the risk of reimbursement errors.

Fleets that adopt Rightcharge benefit from simplified processes, reduced barriers and enhanced support in accelerating their EV transition.

Driving sustainability forward

The AA’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its operational strategies, including its decision to electrify its fleet.

The partnership with Rightcharge provides the organisation with a cutting-edge solution to keep its EV fleet charged, mobile and efficient.

Simon Ungless, Commercial Group Fleet Manager at The AA

Simon Ungless, Commercial Group Fleet Manager at The AA, highlighted the partnership’s importance, stating: “We were looking for a solution to accurately reimburse our EV drivers for their home charging and a wider public network. We feel Rightcharge offers the best solution available in the market.”

Enhanced insights for operational efficiency

Beyond payment solutions, Rightcharge offers advanced analytics tools, enabling The AA to benchmark charging costs and monitor carbon emissions.

These insights provide valuable data to guide The AA’s sustainability initiatives and operational strategies.

Rightcharge’s solutions provide unmatched convenience and transparency for businesses and their drivers:

  • Extensive public charging network: Drivers can access charging options across Europe, from lamppost chargers to ultra-rapid stations.
  • Accurate home reimbursements: Reimbursements are processed promptly and directly through the driver’s energy supplier, removing out-of-pocket costs.
  • Simplified billing: Businesses receive a single, comprehensive monthly bill, minimising administrative workload.
  • Data-driven insights: Fleets gain access to a robust dashboard for analysing charging costs and carbon metrics.
Charlie Cook, Founder and CEO of Rightcharge

Charlie Cook, Founder and CEO of Rightcharge, expresses enthusiasm about the partnership.

“We are delighted to welcome The AA to Rightcharge," he says. "This partnership marks an amazing milestone on our journey to help customers accelerate their transition to electric vehicles.

"To be supporting such an iconic British brand is exciting for the business and we are all looking forward to playing a role in The AA’s transition to a decarbonised fleet.”
