FREENOW & bp pulse Boost EV Charging for Drivers
Leading taxi app, FREENOW, has partnered with bp to enhance support for drivers on its platform.
The strategic collaboration offers substantial benefits to drivers, including discounts of up to 25% on pay-as-you-go rates across the entire bp pulse electric charging network, which features fast, rapid, and ultra-fast chargers. Additionally, drivers can enjoy discounted fuel at all bp-branded sites in the UK.
A step forward in EV charging accessibility
Andrew Hurdle, Network Commercial Director at bp pulse, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: "We’re delighted to be working with FREENOW to offer their drivers discounted EV charging and fuel through the bp Fuel and Charge Card.
"This initiative helps more drivers make the switch to electric by providing access to our network of on-the-go charging solutions."
Sustainable urban mobility
FREENOW is aiming to make cities more accessible and less congested by offering diverse and accessible transport options.
The collaboration with bp is a significant stride towards this goal, providing drivers with reliable and convenient EV charging at various speeds, as well as high-quality fuel. It aligns with FREENOW's broader mission of promoting sustainable urban mobility.
Adoption of zero-emission capable taxis
Currently, 70% of FREENOW’s taxi trips in the UK are made with zero-emission capable black cabs. The percentage is expected to increase as more drivers transition to EVs in the coming years.
The partnership with bp aims to support the transition by reducing charging costs and providing easy access to charging infrastructure.
EV transition costs
FREENOW acknowledges the high costs associated with purchasing or renting EV taxis, which can deter some drivers from making the switch. Nour Rasamny, Head of Operations at FREENOW UK, highlighted the company's commitment to both passengers and drivers: "Passengers and drivers are our number one priority at FREENOW.
"While we offer a wide range of EV taxi options to our passengers, we also want to continue supporting drivers with EV charging.
"This collaboration with bp pulse allows us to offer drivers on the FREENOW app a comprehensive package that includes access to discounts, ensuring support for all drivers."
Driving change in urban mobility
FREENOW aims to reduce reliance on private cars in city centres and promote the use of shared vehicles.
Rasamny emphasised the importance of collaboration in achieving this vision: "By reducing reliance on private cars in city centres and promoting the use of shared vehicles, we can change the way we move around our cities.
"At FREENOW, we know this change requires collaboration, and that is why we will continue to work closely with our partners, drivers, and passengers to drive this change forward."
The partnership between FREENOW and bp marks a significant advancement in supporting drivers and promoting sustainable urban mobility.
By offering discounted EV charging and fuel, the collaboration helps facilitate the transition to electric vehicles, benefiting both drivers and the environment.
As more drivers switch to EVs, initiatives like this will play a crucial role in shaping the future of urban transportation.
