CES 2024: EV Innovations from Sony, Honda & VinFast

At Ces’s 2024 Event, VinFast Unveiled Its VF Wild Pickup Truck, Alongside Sony and Honda’s Afeela EV, Which Unites Mobility With Intelligence

The 2024 edition of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) opened in Las Vegas on 9th January. The event featured top industry executives from some of the world’s most significant technology companies, along with government leaders and more than 4,000 exhibitors. 

“This year at CES, we are excited to spotlight the critical role that technology is playing in improving every aspect of the human experience,” said Gary Shapiro, President and CEO of the Consumer Technology Association (CTA). “CES 2024 will be the hub where business leaders meet, dream and solve.”

Technology Magazine has highlighted some of the most exciting announcements from CES 2024.

Naturally, the EV sector was a big topic.

Mobility with intelligence

Sony and Honda have teamed up to create a new electric vehicle company, Mobility. At CES, they unveiled the Afeela EV, which aims to unite driving with the entertainment experience. With its advanced sensing technology and AI provided by Microsoft, the Afeela aims to expand the possibilities of mobility.

“With Afeela, we have defined the values we want to provide to users as “3A,” an acronym for Autonomy, Augmentation, and Affinity,” said the company. “We will nurture Afeela as mobility with intelligence. In addition, we will pursue new possibilities on top of conventional car values, so that mobility can become a unique and endearing presence for users.”

Vietnamese EV pioneer VinFast reveals electric pickup truck

Vietnamese EV manufacturer VinFast is dedicated to creating a sustainable future for EV drivers. VinFast was founded in 2017 and is a member of Vingroup, the largest private enterprise in the country. Vietnam’s richest man, Pham Nhat Vuong, has just been made CEO.

At CES 2024, VinFast revealed its new electric vehicle, a pickup truck - the VF Wild. 5324mm long and 1997mm wide, the mid-size pickup category, the truck is efficiently packaged and comes with a mid-size footprint and flexible bed size. It also includes a panoramic glass roof and digital side mirrors.

“We are very proud to introduce the VF Wild concept, which encapsulates our mission to make sustainable, high-quality electric vehicles accessible to a broader market,” said Tran Mai Hoa, Deputy CEO of Sales and Marketing, VinFast Global. “This is not just a new product in our offering – it showcases our aspiration to venture into the fast-paced and thriving electric pickup truck market.”

 

CES will return in 2025, running 7th-10th January.
