Integrals Power Enhances EV Battery Technology
Integrals Power is at the forefront of next-generation battery technology, focusing on developing and commercialising high-performance, cost-effective, and scalable battery cathode materials.
The company specialises in Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) and Lithium Iron Manganese Phosphate (LFMP) and is committed to enhancing efficient and sustainable EV batteries.
Accelerated development and collaboration
Integrals Power collaborates closely with academic institutions, research bodies and industry partners in government-funded projects to expedite the commercialisation and scale-up of innovative battery materials.
Its mission is to promote the widespread adoption of e-mobility, contributing to reducing CO2 and improving air quality.
Enhance battery performance
The UK-based company's Enhanced Lithium Iron Phosphate and Lithium Iron Manganese Phosphate chemistries substantially improve energy storage capacity, discharge rates, internal resistance, and retained capacity over time.
These advancements translate to longer range and faster charging and are cost-efficient for EVs
Driving innovation
Integrals Power's cutting-edge Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) and more advanced Lithium Iron Manganese Phosphate (LFMP) cathode materials are developed at a molecular level using pure materials.
The approach eliminates the impurities often found in bulk precursors, which can impair battery cell efficiency and complicate recycling at the end of life. The unique manufacturing process it employs allows for scalable mass production.
Benefits of cathode materials
The result of using cathode materials is that they can store up to 30% more energy, then release it more quickly, and endure more charging cycles with less reduction in capacity. It leads to battery packs that are smaller, lighter, and more durable, enabling EVs to travel further and last longer. Additionally, using fewer cells reduces the overall costs and cuts CO2 emissions from the entire battery supply chain by nearly 20%.
Strategic Sourcing for Supply Chain Security
With approximately 90% of the world's cathode active materials produced in China, Integrals Power sources raw materials from Europe and the US. The strategy enhances supply chain security and transparency, as Integrals Power Founder and CEO Behnam Hormozi confirms. "We source our raw materials from Europe and the US, so we can help cell suppliers and vehicle manufacturers develop a more robust, transparent supply chain that mitigates geopolitical issues such as import tariffs and mining critical elements such as cobalt."
Support and industry collaborations
Integrals Power receives significant support from the UK government and collaborates with leading research institutions and universities. A global vehicle manufacturer is evaluating its technology, bringing it closer to mass production. It is currently constructing a pilot plant in the UK to manufacture prototype materials in volume.
Vision for the Future
Behnam highlights: "The cathode is the most critical part of the cell because it determines the battery's overall performance, cost, and durability.”
“Our breakthroughs in cathode active material will enable EVs to achieve longer range, faster charging, and higher performance from smaller, lighter battery packs."
Adopting LFMP Chemistry
LFMP chemistry, becoming more widely adopted in the automotive industry, offers even higher energy density at a lower cost than traditional Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) cathodes.
Integrals Power's development strategy ensures better performance and flexibility, allowing finely tuned cell properties to match specific application requirements.
Ongoing Development and Evaluation
The upcoming pilot plant will allow the production of larger batches for evaluation by cell suppliers, battery manufacturers, and vehicle manufacturers worldwide.
Integrals Power's advancements in battery technology are set to drive the future of electric vehicles, making them more efficient, affordable, and sustainable.
The transformative work will benefit the automotive industry and sectors requiring reliable, high-performance battery solutions.
