Exclusive Video: Filippo Perini evangelises AEHRA EV design
The automotive sector is shaping up to become something more. Throwing out all preconceived ideas about propulsion and powertrain leaves even the most experienced engineers and designers with a new canvas on which to carve their names in history.
One designer whose work is firmly embedded in the industry is Filippo Perini, now the Chief Designer Officer at AEHRA Automobili, who we had the pleasure of speaking to at the Milano Monza (MIMO) Motor Show 2023.
This day marked something special for the company as it released its second car to the world of automotive and the public and other enthusiasts have been talking about it for a number of reasons. One of these is the unique design of the vehicle based on the model’s electric architecture, and another the history behind the team as it transitions from internal combustion engine (ICE) relations to an entirely new ‘era’ of motoring.
In this exclusive interview with Perini, we delve into the design of the car, which is built on a monocoque chassis to reduce components and encourage use of recyclable materials already available across Italy.
“[All the proportions are driven by this monobody silhouette and we don’t have any bonnet, don’t have a trunk in the front, because all of the components are pushed to the corners],” says Perini.
“[We designed the Sedan before the SUV, and this was very tough because finding the correct proportions was not easy].”
