Top 10: Formula E Sports Brands
Launched in 2014, Formula E overcame early scepticism to become an FIA World Championship, driving EV innovation with cutting-edge tech & global appeal

Launched in Beijing in 2014, Formula E was initially met with scepticism, dismissed by some as a novelty alongside Formula 1.

With relatively slow cars, city-centre circuits, and features like "Fan Boost," doubts surrounded its viability.

However, in just a decade, the championship has evolved into an FIA World Championship, attracting leading manufacturers.

Technological advancements have driven its success, notably the Gen2 car in 2018/19, which eliminated mid-race car swaps, and the Gen3 model in 2022/23, offering increased power and regenerative braking. Despite the withdrawal of some manufacturers, the series has remained resilient and has included pioneering innovations like "Attack Mode."

Beyond motorsport, Formula E serves as a testbed for EV technology. With the Gen4 car on the horizon and global expansion continuing, it has become a forward-thinking, sustainable motorsport category.
