Maserati has officially reaffirmed its participation in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, announcing the upcoming GEN4 era starting in Season 13 (2026-2027). The commitment is pivotal for the iconic Italian automaker, aligning its racing heritage with its ambitious EV goals.

A natural platform for innovation

Formula E has proven to be a vital platform for Maserati's pursuit of sustainable mobility. The automaker debuted in Season 9 with its Tipo Folgore GEN3 vehicle, showcasing a clear commitment to advancing EV technology.

With the GEN4 generation, Maserati aims to further enhance performance while maintaining its focus on sustainability.

Pioneering GEN4 technology

  • Four-wheel drive throughout the race, enhancing speed and control.
  • Increased power outputs, with further recovery capabilities beyond the GEN3 EVO's 600 kW.
  • Enhanced acceleration, building on the GEN3 EVO's ability to reach 100 km/h in just 1.82 seconds.

The advancements aim to redefine the race experience while offering automakers like Maserati new opportunities to transfer technology to their road vehicles.

Maserati's electric revolution

Maserati's commitment to Formula E highlights its broader electrification strategy.

The automaker's fully electric Folgore range, including the Grecale SUV, GranTurismo, and GranCabrio, benefits directly from insights gained on the Formula E circuit.

By 2025, all Maserati models will have an electric option, and by 2028, its entire lineup will transition to fully electric powertrains.
