10. CALB

CALB is a leading EV battery manufacturer with advanced lithium-ion technology applied across passenger vehicles, buses, industrial vehicles and energy storage.

Its modules feature high-accuracy BMS, thermal management and safety certifications, ensuring long life and performance.

CALB has contributed to 19 national and 14 industry standards, while undertaking major R&D projects including China’s national 863 plan.

With 100% core intellectual property and global patents, it partners with universities worldwide.

In 2024, CALB began building a zero carbon AI gigafactory in Portugal.

9. Gotion High-Tech

Gotion High-Tech entered the capital market in 2015 and counts Volkswagen among its major investors.

Specialising in lithium-ion and energy storage systems, it is recognised for national innovation projects and advanced R&D.

At its 13th Technology Conference in 2023, Gotion unveiled the 5C ultra-fast-charging G-Current battery, a high-nickel Stellary battery with 50% cost reduction and the all-solid-state Gemstone battery.

8. EVE Energy

EVE Energy, listed since 2009, has grown into a leading global lithium battery manufacturer through strong R&D, innovation and strategic expansion.

In 2023, it launched a 60 GWh super factory in China, alongside operations in Hungary, the US and Malaysia, ranking third worldwide in energy storage cell shipments.

Its advanced products, including the MB56 and 5 MWh “Mr. Giant” system, improve efficiency and cut lifecycle costs.

7. Sunwoda

Samsung SDI, founded in 1970, has evolved into a global leader in green energy and advanced materials, focusing on EV batteries and energy storage systems.

In 2022, it delivered 2.2 billion small lithium-ion batteries, strengthening its role in the EV supply chain.

With 55 years of innovation, the company now leads in cylindrical, prismatic and solid-state battery development.

Its pilot ‘S-Line’ for all-solid-state batteries targets mass production by 2027.

5. SK On

SK On, established as an independent company in 2021 after decades of SK Group’s battery research, is one of the fastest-growing EV battery makers worldwide.

Partnering with leading automakers, it is investing more than US$50bn in US operations and creating thousands of jobs in Georgia to support electrification.

Ranked among the global top 5 by SNE Research, SK On continues to expand its production capacity, targeting 100 GWh annually by 2025.

4. LG Energy Solution

Powering EVs, PHEVs, HEVs, IT devices, energy storage systems and mobility solutions, it serves major automakers worldwide through joint ventures in North America, Europe and Asia.

The company holds more than 78,000 patents, making it the world’s top battery patent holder.

Committed to sustainability, LG Energy Solution targets full carbon neutrality by 2050 while advancing safety, efficiency and next-generation battery technologies.

3. Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL)

CATL has led the global EV battery market for seven consecutive years, holding a 36.8% share in 2023 with 259.7 GWh produced, far ahead of some rivals.

Supplying Tesla, Ford and Volkswagen, it remains the only manufacturer with more than 30% global share.

Its success stems from technological innovation, including Qilin and Shenxing superfast charging batteries.

2. Panasonic

Expanding EV battery production in North America

Panasonic has opened its US$4bn, 4.7 million square foot battery gigafactory in Kansas, US, marking one of the largest investments in its 107-year history.

The plant, which began production in July 2025, will produce 2170 cylindrical lithium-ion cells with an annual capacity of 32 GWh, enough to power 500,000 EVs.

It complements Panasonic’s Nevada facility, bringing its combined North American output to 73 GWh.

The site will create 4,000 direct jobs and 8,000 indirect roles, while operating as a designated net zero facility using 100% renewable energy within a decade.

Partnerships with Redwood Materials, Novonix and Nouveau Monde Graphite strengthen its sustainable, circular supply chain.

Panasonic’s GREEN IMPACT initiative targets reducing 93 million tonnes of CO₂ by 2031, with the Kansas factory central to this goal.
