How CATL and DHL are Working Towards Sustainable Logistics

In a significant step towards sustainable logistics, CATL, a global leader in new energy solutions, and DHL Group, the world's premier logistics company, have solidified their strategic partnership.
The agreement aims to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in DHL's logistics parks by leveraging CATL's cutting-edge energy storage and management solutions.
The collaboration highlights both companies' commitment to advancing environmentally responsible logistics globally.
Optimising energy use across DHL's logistics parks
Under the agreement, CATL will equip DHL's logistics facilities with state-of-the-art liquid cooling energy storage systems and energy management platforms. The solutions will be integrated with battery swapping and superfast charging systems, enabling DHL to optimise energy consumption across its various operations.
By maximising the use of green energy, the initiative aligns with DHL's ambitious sustainability goal of achieving net zero-emission logistics by 2050.
"By combining DHL's extensive logistics and operational expertise with CATL's innovative green technology, we are joining forces to deliver a trailblazing sustainable logistics solution to the industry. Our strengthened cooperation with DHL will not only contribute to achieving both parties' sustainability targets but also facilitate the world's transition to a greener future."
Expanding innovation beyond logistics facilities
Beyond enhancing energy efficiency in logistics parks, the partnership extends to exploring the future of EVs, battery recycling and end-of-life battery management.
DHL's global network of EV Centers of Excellence will play a pivotal role in supporting CATL's efforts in these areas, fostering innovation in the automotive and mobility sectors.
Oscar de Bok, CEO of DHL Supply Chain, expresses enthusiasm about the partnership's potential: "We're excited to start using CATL's energy solutions in our logistics parks while also providing our logistics services to CATL.
"This solution highlights the strong partnership and innovative spirit between our teams. It's a perfect example of how we're working together to achieve our shared goal of sustainability."
Strengthening an ongoing collaboration
The agreement builds on a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between CATL and DHL last year, which set the foundation for global cooperation in carbon-neutral logistics facilities and the electrification of DHL's pick-up and delivery fleet. The new framework agreement signifies a deeper commitment to these shared sustainability objectives.
Additionally, DHL is CATL's preferred logistics service provider. The decision aligns with DHL's investment in a robust global network of EV Centers of Excellence, which are designed to support the deployment of integrated logistics solutions tailored to the evolving needs of the electric mobility industry.
A shared vision for a greener future
As industries worldwide shift toward greener operations, CATL and DHL's strengthened partnership sets a benchmark for sustainability in the logistics sector.
By deploying energy-efficient solutions and committing to innovation, the collaboration aims to accelerate the transition to cleaner, more sustainable logistics infrastructure on a global scale.
Leveraging each other's strengths, CATL and DHL are driving progress within their respective industries and contributing to a more sustainable and energy-efficient future for global supply chains.
