Jaguar Land Rover and Tata Communications collaborate to deliver seamless global connectivity, smarter driving and real-time updates across 120 countries

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has joined forces with Tata Communications to enhance its next-generation vehicles, leveraging the Tata Communications MOVE platform to deliver continuous, global connectivity.

The collaboration will ensure JLR clients remain connected even in remote locations across 120 countries, benefiting from real-time vehicle tracking, smarter driving experiences and streamlined software-over-the-air (SOTA) updates.

Enhancing connectivity for a smarter driving experience

The partnership aligns with JLR's commitment to innovation and universal connectivity, ensuring clients enjoy continuously evolving, AI-driven features. The Tata Communications MOVE platform will deliver seamless connectivity for JLR's future medium-sized SUVs, built on the Electric Modular Architecture (EMA).

The integration will support vehicles' effortless transition between mobile networks and operators, enabling uninterrupted access to personalised services such as media streaming regardless of location.

JLR's connected fleet generates 2.5 terabytes of data daily and the platform will enhance data exchange, providing engineers with real-time performance insights.

The improvements will enable efficient over-the-air updates, reducing costs for the company and its clients.

Inside the Tata Communications MOVE platform

Over the past year, JLR has updated half a million electronic control units (ECUs) monthly across its fleet. The MOVE platform will further enhance the process, improving data exchange security and efficiency.

Key features include:

  • Resilient connectivity: Advanced wireless communication ensures tracking and data exchange, even in challenging environments.
  • Frequent updates: Increased efficiency in software updates for improved vehicle performance and maintenance.
