Supporting the 2024 EV Rally

Bridgestone Mobility Solutions has committed to offsetting the carbon emissions of vehicles participating in the 2024 EV Rally for the third consecutive year. This five-day event, running from July 1 in Oldbury to July 5 in Chester, will highlight the UK's charging infrastructure and EVs' pivotal role in modern fleet operations.

The rally is not just a race; it is a powerful statement about the future of sustainable transportation and fleet management.

Bridgestone Mobility Solutions, through its globally trusted fleet management solution, Webfleet, has committed to offsetting the carbon emissions of all participating vehicles for the third consecutive year.

The initiative is made possible by partnering with the international NGO Justdiggit.

Despite the lack of tailpipe emissions from battery EVs, the electricity used for charging contributes to a CO2 footprint. Participants' vehicles will be equipped with Webfleet Link devices, allowing live rally broadcasts and providing real-time data insights on energy output and driving performance.

This integration demonstrates the capabilities of EVs and underscores the commitment to a net-zero journey.

The 2024 EV Rally embodies the Bridgestone E8 Commitment, which includes values such as Energy, Ecology, and Efficiency. The rally aims to inspire a transition to greener, more efficient fleet operations worldwide by focusing on these principles.

Collaboration with Justdiggit

Justdiggit - international NGO

The carbon offsetting initiative is made possible through a collaboration with the international NGO Justdiggit. Despite the absence of tailpipe emissions from battery EVs, the electricity used for vehicle charging creates a CO2 footprint. To mitigate this, Webfleet has partnered with Justdiggit through the Green Your Fleet program to remove CO2 from the atmosphere.

Impact of the Green Your Fleet Program

The Green Your Fleet program is an innovative initiative to help businesses offset carbon emissions and promote sustainable fleet management. Partnered with the international NGO Justdiggit, the program is critical to Bridgestone Mobility Solutions' commitment to environmental stewardship.

Green Your Fleet, aims to counteract the CO2 footprint generated by fleet operations, including the electricity used for charging EVs.

The program achieves this by engaging in reforestation and land restoration projects. For instance, the 2024 EV Rally collaboration will remove an estimated 127 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere.

The effort will re-green over 181,768 square metres of dry land, retain 12,720,000 litres of water, and restore more than 660 trees, significantly benefiting the environment and local communities in Tanzania, Africa.

Beverley Wise, Regional Director of UK & Ireland Webfleet

The program empowers fleet owners to estimate and offset their annual CO2 emissions based on fleet size and type. Businesses can enhance their sustainability credentials by participating in, and contributing to, global efforts to combat climate change. Additionally, the data-driven insights provided by Webfleet technology help fleet managers optimise their operations, further reducing their environmental impact.

Through Green Your Fleet, Bridgestone Mobility Solutions exemplifies its dedication to sustainable practices, aligning with the Bridgestone E8 Commitment's core values of Energy, Ecology, and Efficiency. This program mitigates environmental impact and fosters a more sustainable future for fleet management.

"By deploying Webfleet technology for the EV Rally, we are helping shine a spotlight on EVs' powerful role in creating a more sustainable future," said Beverley Wise, Regional Director of UK and Ireland Webfleet. "The collaboration not only highlights the capabilities of EVs in fleet operations, but it underscores our commitment to the net zero journey."
