Exclusive Video: Matt Galvin on NIO’s EV battery service

One of the electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers with a critical role in decarbonising the passenger car segment in NIO. Thanks to the company, the industry has not only been blessed with a number of unique and digitally advanced vehicles, but has also opened doors for more rapid power solutions for electrified cars. 

In this exclusive video content we spoke to the company’s UK Managing Director Matt Galvin, to find out more about the NIO’s battery swapping solution PowerSwap and how this project will deliver a more flexible approach to charging cars. 

NIO is already driven by the application of autonomy and enabling consumers to make the most of technology to create convenience and deliver their power to them. Stopping at a PowerSwap station could be the most influential initiative the industry has ever seen and there’s more to come from NIO as it plans to deliver its battery-as-a-service model.

“Battery swapping takes less than five minutes, you don’t have to leave your car, it’s fully automated, and easy to access,” says Galvin. 

Looking into the future, NIO’s solution is the only one of its kind and, while it only serves NIO customers, it sets the tone for battery power of the future. But, without spoiling it too much, here’s a brief clip from the interview.
