
Globally, 116 million electric cars, buses, vans and heavy trucks are forecast to be on the road in 2026, according to Gartner.
According to McKinsey's Mobility Consumer Pulse Survey, 62% of respondents say they are beginning to change their transportation habits due to sustainability concerns and 42% say they want their next car to be an EV.
EV Magazine has ranked 10 of the top electric cars available to customers globally.
10. BYD ATTO 3

The original ATTO 3 arrived in 2023. This car can go from 0 to 62 mph in 7.3 seconds and has 260 miles of estimated range. It features BYD's e-Platform 3.0 and an 8-1 electric powertrain.
The BYD ATTO 3 charges from 30% to 80% in 29 minutes with high speed charging and features BYD's own Blade Battery. The car is available in three model variants: Active, Comfort and the premium Design.
In April 2026, BYD announced the ATTO 3 EVO, a new model which provides a revamped version of the car that offers improvements to range and performance. The updated EVO can perform a 10 to 80% recharge in 25 minutes.
9. Hyundai IONIQ 5

Offering 0 to 62 mph in 5.3 seconds, Hyundai's IONIQ 5 is a leading crossover utility vehicle. The car has a top speed of 114 mph.
It is available in an all-wheel drive version with two electric motors or a two-wheel drive version with a single electric motor.
It features an array of smart technologies like paddle shifters and an automatically opening power tailgate.
Additionally, IONIQ 5 features the V2L function which lets users freely use or charge electric devices, such as scooters or camping equipment, while on the move or parked.
Hyundai has also partnered with Motional to deploy IONIQ 5 robotaxis in Las Vegas at the end of 2026.
8. Volkswagen ID.4

The ID.4 is Volkswagen's first ever fully electric SUV.
It is available in three battery capacities: 52 kWh, 77 kWh or 79 kWh. It offers acceleration of 0 to 60 in 5.4 to 9 seconds.
The ID.4 has been Volkswagen's top-selling BEV, with 163,400 models sold globally in 2025.
This car is Volkswagen's second model to be built based on the modular electric drive matrix, a specialised platform it developed for its EVs.
The model is made and sold in China, the US and Europe, though Volkswagen recently announced it was stopping production of the ID.4 in the US.
7. Xiaomi YU7

Xiaomi YU7 has a maximum horsepower of 690 PS, a peak power of 508 kW, a 0 to 100 kmph acceleration time of 3.23 seconds and a top speed of 253 km per hour.
This is Xiaomi EV's second model and first SUV. The Chinese brand is also known for manufacturing smartphones and consumer electronics.
The YU7 features the industry's first mass-produced Xiaomi HyperVision Panoramic Display which employs a triple Mini LED screen where passengers can customise their entertainment experience.
6. BYD Qin Plus

BYD's Qin Plus has up to 197 horsepower, is powered by a dual motor and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km per hour in 7.3 s.
The electric sedan has a 390 kW electric motor and features four-wheel drive. The car is built on BYD's e-Platform 3.0 which integrates the driving, braking and steering system.
BYD's Qin Plus features innovative technology, with a 10.1'' electric rotatory multimedia screen, Apple and Android CarPlay and voice-activated assistant capabilities.
5. Wuling HongGuang Mini EV

This four door four seat Mini EV has a max speed of 101 km per hour and maximum power of 85 kW. It is one of the most popular compact electric car models from China.
Its size, affordability and low energy consumption have made it a favourite among a variety of consumers. In October 2025, the car sold 61,506 units in a single month, having sold in total more than 250,000 units.
The 5th generation Mini EV also supports advanced connectivity features through a mobile app where users can remotely start the vehicle, control the air conditioning and pre-cool or pre-heat the cabin. The vehicle also features a 10.1-inch smart infotainment screen.
Wuling is owned by SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile, a joint venture of SAIC Motor (50.1%), GM China (44%) and Guangxi Automobile Group (5.9%).
4. BYD Seagull/Dolphin Surf

BYD's Seagull offers 0 to 50 km per hour acceleration in 4.9 seconds and has 30.1 kWh battery capacity. It is known as the Dolphin Surf in Europe. It can fast charge from 30% to 80% in 22 minutes.
This car has sold over a million units since its launch. New models include innovative features including intelligent cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure assist and intelligent high-beam control.
The compact car also features voice control via a Hi BYD command, allowing drivers to access many key functions without taking their hands off the wheel.
3. Tesla Model 3

The Model 3 is one of the most popular EVs globally. Tesla's sports electric sedan can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds. The car, since its announcement in 2017, has routinely topped best selling charts in the US and UK.
The car is also available in Premium and Performance models, which offer increases to its performance. The Performance model has a top speed of 163 mph and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds.
Tesla's Model 3 is designed with a phone key feature that allows users to automatically lock and unlock the vehicle. Users can also control the car's interior climate using the Tesla app to cool or heat the cabin.
The car features active safety and crash-avoidance features, including Lane Departure Assist and Forward Collision Warning, that use software and external cameras to prevent accidents from occurring.
2. Geely Xingyuan

The car features a Flyme Auto Smart System and a dual-display setup with an 8.8'' HD instrument cluster and 14.6'' HD infotainment screen. As well as in car technology, the car has cruise control, automatic emergency braking and a lane departure warning system.
The car is also known as the Geely EX2 and the Geome Xingyuan. It exceeded 40,000 monthly sales for seven consecutive months in 2025, with cumulative sales surpassing 530,000 units.
Geely performed well in 2025, its worldwide sales reached over three million units representing a 39% year-on-year increase.
1. Tesla Model Y

Since its announcement in 2019, Tesla's Model Y has consistently been one of the worlds most popular EVs. Between the Model 3 and the Model Y, Tesla produced 1,600,767 vehicles and delivered 1,585,279 in 2025.
The Model Y can recharge in 15 minutes up to 173 miles on a Tesla Supercharger, of which there are more than 80,000 globally.
This car is also available in Premium and Performance ranges. The Model Y Performance has a top speed of 155 mph and can run 0 to 60 in 3.3 seconds.
The Model Y features a high-definition touchscreen and studio-quality sound. Users are also able to play games in the Tesla Arcade and stream movies.
Tesla's New Model Y, announced in December 2025, is set to offer 5% more range. It includes improvements such as optimised gear grinding, reduced brake drag and improved tire rolling resistance. The all-wheel drive trim now has a 320-mile EPA estimated range and can achieve 0 to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds.
