The Top 10 electric bikes looking at practicality, range and technical features are Tern's GSD S10, Aventon’s Level 4 and the Specialized Turbo Vado 4.0

The market for electric bikes or " e-bikes " is growing incredibly quickly. According to Grand View Research, the global e-bike market size was estimated at US$69.73bn in 2025 and is projected to reach US$144.33bn by 2033.

This is down to more people considering the switch to micromobility, with electric bikes high on consumers' agenda. Analysis from McKinsey indicated that about 70% of global consumers are willing to use micromobility in the future, especially electric kickscooters and regular electric bicycles. 

60% of European and American cities are building new micromobility infrastructure and providing tax subsidies for micromobility products such as electric bicycles, according to an analysis from McKinsey. 

As more consumers switch to electric bikes and the infrastructure supporting them develops, EV Magazine has ranked the Top 10 electric bikes available, considering range, practicality and technical features.

10. Portola

With a top speed of 28mph powered by a 750w electric motor, Ride1Up's Portola offers a compact folding bike which is suitable for city travellers.

The bike is available with two battery options to support different riding requirements: the 48V 10.4Ah Reention Rhino and the 48V 13.4Ah Reention Rhino. These batteries offer 32 to 63km (20-40 miles) per charge or 40km to 72 km (25-45 miles) on a single charge respectively. 

Ride1Up was founded in 2018 after the company's founder, Kevin Dugger, wanted to make entry level e-bikes available to a wider market by creating affordable options.

The bike is equipped with a full carbon fibre frame to keep weight at a minimum. It is equipped with a SPC+ mount on the stem of the bike and the company's AppTag can turn the consumer's phone into a connected dashboard for smart navigation. 

Cannondale is a subsidiary of Pon.Bike, part of Pon Holdings, who also own a variety of international bike brands, including Caloi, Cervélo, FOCUS and Gazelle. The group is headed up in The Netherlands by CEO Christian Dahlheim who was formerly CEO of Volkswagen Financial Services.

Fiido's C21 offers a competitive range of 62.14 miles powered by a 250W motor. The nine speed bike is ideal for both city dwellers and those looking to take on steeper climbs.

Fiido is established in Shenzhen, China in 2017. On its website the company now lists its registered address in Kowloon, Hong Kong. Fiido recently opened a factory in France, having delivered more than 100,000 e-bikes from factories in China to Europe. 

7. Engine Pro 3.0 (Boost)

Powered by a removable 48V15Ah Samsung battery and a 48V Hub Motor, Chinese based Engwe 's Engine Pro 3.0 Boost offers a long range of 130km (81 miles), with 90Nm of boost power. 

The seven speed bike offers charging to full capacity in two hours. Engwe claims the model is trusted by over 100,000 riders. 

The bike offers connection with Engwe's app to assist with GPS tracking, keyless unlocking and motion detection. It is also equipped with a TFT display for easier navigation and control at a glance while riding.​​​​​​​

6. Endurace:ONfly CF 8

Canyon 's Endurace: ONfly CF 8 is a high-end electric bike that weighs less than 1,300 grams. It is powered by a TQ HPR40 motor and a TQ 290Wh battery, which supports the bike on rides over 100km (62 miles). The bike can also support over 2000 meters of climbing. 

It includes features such as fender mounts, a GPS tracker and rivets for mounting a top tube box.

Bastian Langlitz, Canyon Product Manager, said when announcing the Endurace: ONFLY in 2025: “We set out to create a new benchmark for e-road bikes, designing a bike that catches your eye with how it looks, how little it weighs, how it handles and how it uses technology like always-on lights, performance tuning and anti-theft to build the best e-road bike currently on the market.” 

5. RadRunner

The RadRunner, which was updated in 2025, is a single-speed electric bike. The base model electric cargo bike features a 750-watt motor, an improved 320lb payload, 65Nm of torque and a range of over 55 miles per charge.

The RadRunner comes in three variants, RadRunner, RadRunner Plus and RadRunner Max. The RadRunner Max offers a 28mph top speed and slightly extended range of over 60 miles on a single charge. It also features a variety of other building features on the base model. 

Kathi Lentzsch, CEO of Rad Power Bikes, said when announcing the updated RadRunner models in 2025: “I've been energised by the opportunity to build on Rad's strong foundation and connect even more people to the power of ebikes.”

4. Electric G-Line

The Electric G-Line popular electric bike features a compact electric system that was engineered from the ground up in the UK.

Brompton has a bike app which can be installed on smartphones to provide consumers with over-the-air updates. 

Like the original Brompton fold, the Electric G Line transforms into a compact, locked package in under 20 seconds. Brompton bikes are known for convenience and foldability. On its website Brompton claims that its bike goes on trains, travels in car boots and stores in small spaces (including one-person tents). 

3. Turbo Vado 4.0

Specialized's Turbo Vado 4.0 can ride for 6.5 hours on a single charge when in eco mode.

The bike is available in small, medium, large and extra large for different height levels. 

In technical specifications, the electric bike comes equipped with the company's “MasterMind” display that reveals all relevant information about the ride and allows real-time tuning of support levels. 

Its “MasterMind” integrates with the Specialized app for range optimisation tools, advanced tuning and on-ride diagnostics.

Founded in 1974 in the US, Specialized have been offering a wide range of bikes for decades. 

2. Level 4 REC

Offering up to 100nM of torque from an Aventon 's Ultro S Motor with 100Nm of torque, Aventon's Level 4 REC offers an impressive range of up to 110 miles. 

The bike features enhanced technology offering an electronic shifter with Autoshift Technology. 

The Level 4 REC is supported by Japanese multi-national manufacturing giant's Shimano CUES 10-speed drivetrain. 

The electric bike features a 100mm suspension fork which helps with absorbing shocks from potholes and rough roads.

Aventon's Level 4 is available in two model types: REC and ADV. The more expensive ADV offers a range up to 110 miles, improving on the REC's 75 miles range and offering a variety of other technical improvements.

Tern's GSD S10 cargo bike offers best-in-class hauling capacity, rated to a maximum gross vehicle weight of 210kg with a rear rack load capacity of 100kg. 

Tern says its GSD can carry up to 2 children or a weekly grocery hall, while offering a similar length to a standard e-bike. The bike is dual-battery compatible which can power through heavy use and long distances of up to 196km (122 miles).

The bike is powered by Bosch's Cargo Line motor which provides up to 85 Nm of torque with a maximum speed of 25kph (15.5mph). The electric bike is supported by Shimano's Deore 1 x 10-speed hub and Bosch's Anti-Lock Braking System.

Tern launched in 2011 in Taiwan. Tern's leader, Joshua Hon, refers to himself as Tern's Team Captain. Speaking to CNBC in 2020, Joshua said “Our philosophy at Tern for management is let everyone be a leader.” 

Joshua added: “That's why my title is Team Captain. As a team captain of a team, you're not the only player. You have to lead by example. You have to say, hey, this is our goal. But you have to empower everyone to help you reach the goal.”
