Built on BYD's in-house developed e-Truck Platform, it is engineered for superior safety, performance and efficiency. The ETH8 features BYD's iconic X front face and a diving waistline, showcasing a design tailored for the European market by renowned vehicle designer Wolfgang Egger, BYD's Design Director.
Inside, the ETH8 offers a spacious, ergonomically designed cabin focused on comfort and operational ease. The high-tech interior features an enormous 10.1-inch display screen and controls for easy access and clear visibility. eTruck platform
BYD is the only NEV producer that has developed its powertrain systems, power batteries, automotive semiconductors, motors and motor controller systems. The ETH8 benefits from BYD's deeply integrated eTruck platform, which includes a 5-in-1 controller designed for optimal performance and efficiency. The single-module system simplifies maintenance, reducing both downtime and costs.
The platform features an e-axle that combines the axle with a two-speed gearbox and battery, boosting the powertrain's energy efficiency to over 90%. Including regenerative braking and the powertrain design set the BYD ETH8 apart in the electric truck market.
The ETH8 is equipped with BYD's Iron-Phosphate (LFP) battery, developed with 29 years of experience in power battery technology. The battery offers enhanced safety and stability compared to conventional lithium-ion batteries and is 100% cobalt-free, making it an environmentally friendly choice.
The Chassis
The ETH8 offers excellent handling and manoeuvrability, providing a smooth, quiet, pure-electric driving experience. The versatile chassis can be tailored for different operations, from urban distribution to sanitation services, with two available wheelbase options.
The four-speed gearbox is optimised for electric trucks, ensuring efficient performance with moderate power consumption.
The ETH8 has onboard equipment, including a tachometer, a multi-function steering wheel, an 8-inch info screen and a 10.1-inch hover LCD touchpad screen. It features electrohydraulic power steering, including an economy power driving mode option designed to enhance the driving experience.
Impressive Range and Fast Charging
With a large battery capacity, the ETH8 can be charged from 20% to 100% within 2 hours, offering a range of up to 250km. Various charging solutions are available to ensure maximum convenience for different operational needs.
