Nuro Expands with Licensing Model for Autonomous Tech
Nuro, a leader in autonomous vehicle technology, is boldly expanding its business model to include licensing its AI-driven autonomy platform, the Nuro Driver, to automotive OEMs and mobility providers.
The shift allows Nuro to extend its advanced self-driving technology to Level 4 (L4) autonomous passenger vehicles and goods delivery services, enhancing the company's role in accelerating the adoption of autonomous technology across the transportation sector.
Proven technology with a new approach
Founded in 2016, Nuro has pioneered the deployment of autonomous vehicles in multiple US cities.
Its Nuro Driver platform integrates automotive-grade hardware with AI-driven software to enable L4 autonomy for both personal and commercial vehicles.
Powered by NVIDIA DRIVE Thor and Arm Neoverse technology the Nuro Driver can handle complex urban and highway environments safely and effectively due to its innovative design.
With more than one million autonomous miles completed and zero at-fault incidents, Nuro's technology is robust and road-tested.
Introducing the Nuro AI Platform
In conjunction with its new licensing model, Nuro is launching the Nuro AI Platform, a suite of scalable tools for AI development and validation.
The platform provides automotive OEMs and mobility companies with a commercially independent, road-proven solution to accelerate their autonomous vehicle development and deployment timelines.
By focusing on its core strengths in autonomous technology development, Nuro aims to foster powerful partnerships across the industry.
Strategic partnerships for a self-driving future
Jiajun Zhu, co-founder and CEO of Nuro, states: "Nuro is uniquely positioned to be a major player in the future of autonomous mobility."
"Our AI-first approach and proven safety record make us a valuable partner for OEMs and mobility providers. The Nuro Driver will play a key role in bringing L4 autonomy to the mainstream, enhancing the quality of life for everyone."
Building a safer autonomous ecosystem
Safety remains a top priority for Nuro. The Nuro Driver leverages advanced AI and redundant systems to ensure reliable performance in various driving conditions.
The platform's integration of sensor processing, safety-critical functions and AI capabilities into a centralised computing system provides the reliability required for safe, large-scale deployment.
Dipti Vachani, SVP and GM of Automotive at Arm highlights the partnership's significance, stating:
"Nuro's adoption of Arm's Neoverse V3AE technology delivers the performance and safety needed to advance autonomous driving. We are proud to support Nuro in this journey to redefine mobility."
Enhancing performance with NVIDIA's AV architecture
Rishi Dhall, VP of Automotive at NVIDIA, adds:
"Built with NVIDIA's end-to-end safety AV architecture, the Nuro Driver offers a unified platform that combines AI-driven autonomy with critical safety functions, ensuring both reliability and scalability for autonomous vehicle deployment."
Licensing opportunities are now available
With the new licensing model, Nuro invites automotive OEMs and mobility providers to licence the Nuro Driver platform and begin developing their next-generation autonomous systems.
The strategic expansion positions Nuro to play a vital role in commercialising autonomous technology across various applications, from personal vehicles to delivery fleets.
