Expanding Hyundai’s EV

Concept THREE marks Hyundai’s first compact EV concept, extending the IONIQ family beyond midsize and large electric models.

With dimensions of 4,287 mm in length, 1,940 mm in width and a 2,722 mm wheelbase, the vehicle offers a balance of space efficiency and practicality that makes it well suited for European cities.

Its compact proportions are paired with Hyundai’s “Art of Steel” design language, transforming structural strength into sculptural beauty with flowing volumes and precise lines.

The Aero Hatch profile contributes to aerodynamic performance, while the Parametric Pixel lighting at the front and rear creates a distinctive visual identity.

“Returning to IAA Mobility after four years away is a true milestone and such as occasion deserves a milestone car,” says Xavier Martinet, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Europe.

“Concept THREE represents the next step in Hyundai Motor’s electrification journey.

“With its compact dimensions and Art of Steel design language, it embodies our vision of delivering mobility that is practical, accessible and emotionally resonant.”

These expressive details bring depth and rhythm to the car’s exterior, ensuring it stands out as both innovative and approachable.

Sustainability at the core

Inside, Concept THREE champions sustainability through the use of recycled and responsibly sourced materials.

Ocean waste textiles, recycled plastics and lightweight aluminium foam are integrated into the cabin, highlighting Hyundai’s commitment to reducing the environmental impact of its vehicles.

The interior colour palette, combining lemon-tinted glass and Moonbeam Yellow highlights with calm grey tonalities, creates an expressive yet soothing environment.

Beyond aesthetics, the “Bring Your Own Lifestyle” (BYOL) modular widgets give drivers and passengers the freedom to personalise their experience, while the inclusion of “Mr. Pix”, a symbolic, interactive design character, adds an emotional layer of engagement.

By blending sustainable material choices with human-centred design, Hyundai demonstrates how eco-conscious engineering can deliver warmth, clarity and playfulness.

A strategic hub for clean mobility

Europe remains central to Hyundai’s electrification strategy, with nearly 80% of its vehicles for the region built locally.

Compact EVs such as Concept THREE are expected to be crucial in addressing mobility challenges shaped by urbanisation, stricter emissions standards and consumer demand for accessible clean transport.

Hyundai has committed to electrifying every model in its European line-up by 2027, releasing 21 global EVs by 2030.

The company also continues to advance hydrogen fuel cell innovation and sustainable manufacturing, including transitioning European production facilities to renewable energy.

IAA mobility

IAA Mobility 2025 marks Hyundai’s return to Europe’s premier mobility event after four years.

At the Munich exhibition, Hyundai is showcasing seven electrified models including the KONA Electric, IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6 N and IONIQ 9, alongside the new Concept THREE.

Visitors can also experience nine models through test drives.

Hyundai’s 58-metre-wide booth, inspired by Parametric Pixel lighting, features oversized glass structures that reinforce the brand’s design-led vision.

With design showcases, in-car modular accessory demonstrations and immersive spaces, Hyundai uses the platform to highlight not only its technological leadership but also its broader mission: to make electrification desirable, accessible and sustainable for European consumers.
