Ceer Teams up with Rimac for high-performance EVs
Ceer partners with Rimac Technology to equip its flagship EVs with cutting-edge electric drive systems, marking a milestone in Saudi Arabia's EV journey

Ceer, Saudi Arabia's first homegrown EV brand, has partnered strategically with Rimac Technology to supply cutting-edge Electric Drive Systems (EDS) for its upcoming flagship EV range. The agreement was formalised in October 2024.

Pioneering Saudi Arabia's EV landscape

Ceer is Saudi Arabia's first automotive brand to manufacture EVs locally, marking a significant milestone in the nation's automotive and technological evolution.

A joint venture between the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. (Foxconn), Ceer plans to design, manufacture and sell EVs, including sedans and SUVs, tailored for the MENA region.

The venture aligns with PIF's broader strategy to diversify Saudi Arabia's economy by fostering growth industries. Ceer aims to attract over US$150m in foreign direct investment and create thousands of direct and indirect jobs.

By 2034, the brand is projected to contribute US$8 billion to Saudi Arabia's GDP.

Ceer combines expertise from global leaders, licensing BMW technology for vehicle development and leveraging Foxconn's innovations in electrical architecture, infotainment, connectivity and autonomous driving technologies. Each vehicle will be rigorously designed and manufactured in Saudi Arabia, adhering to global quality and safety standards.

Rimac Technology, which has headquarters in Croatia, is a Tier 1 technology supplier specialising in electrification solutions. A subsidiary of the Rimac Group, the company develops cutting-edge battery systems, electric powertrain systems and software for automotive applications.

With over 1,400 employees and a strong presence in Europe, Rimac collaborates with world-renowned automotive brands.

Rimac's legacy includes contributions to iconic hypercars like the Rimac Nevera, Pininfarina Battista and Aston Martin Valkyrie.

The partnership with Ceer highlights Rimac's expansion into large-scale, high-performance projects, advancing its reputation as a global leader in electric mobility.

Transforming Saudi EVs

The partnership will equip Ceer's flagship vehicles with Rimac's advanced electric drive systems, setting new benchmarks for performance and innovation in the region.

James (Jim) DeLuca, CEO, Ceer Motors

Ceer CEO James DeLuca stated,  "We are delighted to be the first company and large-scale project in the GCC to partner with Rimac Technology."

"Rimac's global reputation aligns perfectly with our commitment to delivering world-class, high-performance EVs and revolutionising Saudi Arabia's automotive industry."

For Rimac, the collaboration represents another step toward scaling its technology for mass-market applications.

Mate Rimac, Founder, Rimac Group

Mate Rimac, founder of the Rimac Group, stated. "The collaboration with Ceer further solidifies Rimac Technology's global electrification ambitions."

"This year alone, we've announced several key partnerships that will drive the production of tens of thousands of electric drive systems for leading OEMs worldwide."

Scaling global ambitions

The partnership marks Rimac's first collaboration in the GCC region and reflects its shift from niche hypercar technologies to broader applications. Earlier in 2024, Rimac secured agreements with the BMW Group and other European OEMs, cementing its role in the global transition to electrification.

Rimac has invested heavily in its facilities, including the state-of-the-art Rimac Campus in Croatia, which will soon operate at full capacity to support this growth.

Details about the full scope of the Ceer-Rimac collaboration will be released. Still, the partnership already stands as a testament to the transformative potential of global cooperation in the EV sector.

Combining Ceer's regional insights and Rimac's technological expertise, the two companies are poised to redefine electric mobility in Saudi Arabia and beyond.
