In a strategic move to advance battery and powertrain development, Europe's leading automotive engineering consultancy, HORIBA MIRA, partnered with Monolith, a renowned artificial intelligence (AI) software provider for engineering teams. The collaboration promises groundbreaking solutions for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier 1 battery suppliers, merging AI-driven innovation with decades of automotive engineering expertise.

Pioneering data-driven battery development

HORIBA MIRA aims to integrate Monolith's cutting-edge AI tools, including its Anomaly Detector (AD) and Next Test Recommender (NTR) algorithms, into its suite of data-driven solutions.

The integration is expected to reduce reliance on costly prototype vehicles, significantly cut development time, and enhance calibration processes for batteries and other powertrains.

As part of the agreement, Monolith gains access to HORIBA MIRA's in-house R&D battery test data, enabling the AI provider to refine its tools and scale its application across automotive projects.

At the core of the collaboration is Monolith's no-code, machine-learning platform, which empowers engineering teams to harness valuable testing datasets for product development.

Using AI, Monolith analyses these datasets to make reliable predictions, enabling companies to optimise products without relying on time-consuming physical testing.

Key tools offered by Monolith include the Next Test Recommender, which identifies the most effective next steps in the testing process, and the Anomaly Detector. This industry-first feature enhances fault detection.

The AI innovations align seamlessly with HORIBA MIRA's existing digital twin technology, calibration optimisers, and real-world scenario generators. The blend of capabilities will enable clients to transition smoothly into virtual development—a growing demand in the automotive sector.
