Bulgaria invites VinFast to explore EV market opportunities, from car sales to manufacturing & software development, strengthening Europe's mobility effort

On November 26, 2024, Bulgaria's President Rumen Radev led a high-ranking delegation to the VinFast Hai Phong Manufacturing Complex in Vietnam. The visit highlighted Bulgaria's interest in fostering collaboration with VinFast, a rising star in the EV industry. President Radev lauded VinFast's achievements and invited the company to explore investment opportunities in Bulgaria.

Acknowledging VinFast's remarkable growth

During the visit, President Radev praised VinFast's impressive rise to become Vietnam's leading automotive brand in record time. He commended the company's innovative strides in EV technology and described its success as a testament to Vietnam's rapid economic, scientific and technological advancements.

As part of the tour, the Bulgarian delegation explored the state-of-the-art body welding and EV assembly workshops at the Hai Phong complex. They were impressed by the scale and sophistication of VinFast's production processes, particularly the emphasis on quality and innovation.

Bulgaria's potential as a strategic partner

President Radev highlighted Bulgaria's long-standing role in the automotive supply chain for leading European, American and Japanese manufacturers. He highlighted the country's expertise in research, production and developing critical components, sensors and intelligent operating systems for EVs.

With this in mind, Radev proposed that VinFast consider Bulgaria a strategic partner for its European expansion. The invitation encompassed a range of possibilities, including:

  • Selling VinFast vehicles in the Bulgarian market.
  • Establishing manufacturing facilities for EV components and vehicles.
  • Collaborating on software development tailored to meet European standards and regulations.

In response, Nguyễn Việt Quang, Vice Chairman and CEO of Vingroup reaffirmed VinFast's commitment to global expansion and its mission to advance green mobility worldwide. He expressed enthusiasm for exploring the opportunities outlined by President Radev and acknowledged Bulgaria's strengths as a potential partner in the EV sector.

VinFast has been making significant strides in international markets, positioning itself as a leader in the transition to sustainable transportation. Its global vision aligns well with Bulgaria's ambition to strengthen its role in the European EV ecosystem.
