Enhancing e-charging infrastructure with Simaris

The Simaris planning tools are crucial in dimensioning electrical power distribution and selecting the necessary devices, such as distribution boards. By incorporating Mennekes charging stations, the planning process for e-charging infrastructure becomes more streamlined and effective. The initiative supports the ongoing push towards electromobility, a key driver in reducing CO₂ emissions within the transport sector.

Stephan May, CEO of Electrification and Automation at Siemens Smart Infrastructure

Stephan May, CEO of Electrification and Automation at Siemens Smart Infrastructure, highlighted the impact of the partnership: "This partnership allows us to offer our customers everything from a single source for fast and easy planning of sustainable e-charging infrastructure. Together we are accelerating the energy transition."

The Partnership

Siemens Smart Infrastructure (SI) is at the forefront of developing intelligent and adaptive infrastructure, addressing the urgent challenges caused by urbanisation and climate change. By integrating energy systems, buildings, and industries, SI provides comprehensive solutions that span from power generation to consumption. Its digitalised ecosystem enables customers to optimise their operations while contributing to environmental sustainability

Mennekes is a globally recognised manufacturer of industrial plugs and eMobility charging solutions. Since 2014, its "Type 2" system has been the EU-mandated charging standard for EVs across Europe.

Simaris planning tools

By design, Mennekes' e-charging solutions are efficient and easy to install. The partnership significantly enhances the preliminary planning process for reliable energy distribution. The Simaris planning tools allow for the automatic design of components and systems required for e-charging infrastructure, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards.

Using Simaris, planners can generate detailed documentation for tenders, including budgeting and technical specifications. The tool provides Building Information Modelling (BIM) data, enabling seamless digital integration and early consideration in digital twin projects. Furthermore, project data within Simaris can be easily shared, exported and imported, simplifying stakeholder collaboration.

Andreas Matthé, CEO of Electrical Products at Siemens Smart Infrastructure

Andreas Matthé, CEO of Electrical Products at Siemens Smart Infrastructure, emphasised the significance of this integration: "We are excited that Mennekes is the first external partner in our Simaris ecosystem, giving customers direct access to their product portfolio. This will make power distribution planning for eMobility infrastructure even simpler."

Christopher Mennekes, CEO of Mennekes

Christopher Mennekes, CEO of Mennekes, echoed this sentiment: "For years, we have been offering not just customised charging solutions but a wide range of services for planners.

"By partnering with Siemens and integrating our charging infrastructure into Simaris, we are continuing along this path and making day-to-day work easier for planners."

The collaboration between Siemens Smart Infrastructure and Mennekes represents a major leap forward in eMobility infrastructure planning. By combining Siemens' expertise in intelligent energy solutions with Mennekes' industry-leading charging technology, the partnership aims to accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable transport sector. As cities and industries move towards electrification, innovative tools like Simaris will play an essential role in shaping the future of mobility.
