RAW Charging has formed a partnership with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS)
RAW will install more than 90 EV charging bays across all five RHS gardens: RHS Wisley, RHS Bridgewater, RHS Harlow Carr, RHS Hyde Hall and RHS Rosemoor

RAW Charging, a leading electric vehicle (EV) chargepoint operator for the leisure, hospitality and retail sectors, has announced a new partnership with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), the UK’s leading gardening charity.

The partnership will see RAW install more than 90 EV charging bays across all five RHS gardens in the UK: RHS Wisley, RHS Bridgewater, RHS Harlow Carr, RHS Hyde Hall and RHS Rosemoor.

“This initiative aligns with our commitment to sustainability and enhancing the visitor experience," comments Malcolm Anderson, Head of Sustainability at RHS.

"By installing over 90 EV charging bays across our five iconic gardens, we're making it easier for our visitors to enjoy their time with us while reducing the carbon emissions associated with travel by private car. This complements our ongoing work on increasing accessibility to our gardens and shows via active travel and public transport.

“This collaboration with RAW Charging is an important step forward in our efforts to promote green practices and ensure our gardens remain accessible and enjoyable for all.”

Supporting RHS' sustainability goals

Slated for completion by summer 2025, RAW's collaboration with RHS supports the latter's sustainability goals by helping reduce emissions from visitor travel.

Once in place, the chargers will provide visitors with a reliable and user-friendly charging experience, making sustainable travel more accessible. In 2024, RHS gardens welcomed more than 2.7 million visitors, reinforcing their role as some of the UK’s most popular attractions.

RHS has long been committed to environmental responsibility, with key targets focused on climate, biodiversity, water scarcity, biosecurity, circular plastic and waste reduction. By integrating EV charging infrastructure at these sites, RAW supports RHS’ aim to be climate positive by 2030.

With one in three new cars sold in the UK now electric or hybrid, the demand for reliable charging infrastructure continues to rise. This partnership ensures visitors can charge their vehicles with ease, using RAW’s contactless-enabled chargers.

Growing RAW’s EV charging network

This latest collaboration further expands RAW’s growing network of EV charging stations across the UK. The company recently rolled out chargers at a host of other high-profile destinations as part of its mission to connect major leisure sites with sustainable transport solutions.

Over the past year, RAW has significantly invested in EV infrastructure at key attractions across the UK and Europe. This includes installing 162 chargers at National Trust locations, as well as deploying charging points at Merlin Entertainments sites such as LEGOLAND Windsor and Alton Towers.

Additionally, RAW has introduced charging solutions at major retail destinations, including McArthurGlen shopping outlets and properties managed by Aberdeen and Aviva Investors.

RAW prioritises accessibility and convenience, ensuring its charging points are easy to use for visitors and members at leisure destinations. The company continues to enhance the driver experience by delivering reliable and seamless charging options.

Jason Simpson, CEO at RAW Charging

“We are thrilled to partner with the Royal Horticultural Society to bring our market-leading EV charging solutions to some of the UK's most beloved public attractions," adds Jason Simpson, CEO at RAW Charging. "This contract underscores our commitment to making EV charging more accessible and convenient for drivers across the leisure and hospitality sectors."

"By installing over 90 charging bays at five RHS Gardens, we are not only supporting sustainable travel but also enhancing the visitor experience at these iconic locations. This collaboration is a testament to RAW's capability to deliver high-quality charging infrastructure at premier sites and we look forward to continuing our mission to transform the EV charging landscape in the UK and beyond."
