Prohire, a leading provider of commercial vehicle hire and fleet management solutions, has appointed Susan Shardlow as its permanent Chief Financial Officer. The decision follows her successful tenure as interim CFO since December 2023 and she brings three decades of financial acumen to the role.
Shardlow's extensive experience spans corporate and private equity-backed companies, with a particular focus on asset rental sectors, including construction, utilities and recycling. Her expertise lies in overseeing traditional finance operations while driving transformational projects. Before Prohire, she served as interim CFO at Taziker, a UK contractor specialising in structural refurbishments and protective coatings.
Beyond her executive roles, Susan has built a strong reputation as a non-executive director and audit chair for organisations such as Hanley Economic Building Society and Staffordshire Housing Group. Her diverse background equips her with a comprehensive understanding of financial strategy and corporate governance.
Susan expressed enthusiasm for her new role, highlighting Prohire's growth potential and commitment to sustainability. She aims to support the company's expansion, including its Progreen division, through strategic value-adding initiatives.
Jay Edwards, Prohire's Managing Director, welcomed her appointment, emphasising the value of her financial and operational expertise in achieving the company's ambitious growth objectives. He particularly noted her potential contribution to Prohire's leadership in sustainable vehicle hire.
With Progreen already assisting clients in fleet decarbonisation, Susan's leadership is expected to accelerate Prohire's progress towards Net Zero goals, further cementing the company's position at the forefront of sustainable fleet management solutions.
