INFINITI unveils its future — and it looks electric
Automotive brand INFINITI is the luxury vehicle division of Nissan, the Japanese vehicle company, and has been active since 1989. Its cars are sleek, stylish and remain trendy.
As the launch of the brand’s goal to electrify the majority of its lineup by 2030, INFINITI has revealed the Vision Qe concept, a stunning preview of the brand's electrified future and a preview of the first all-electric sedan.
It is no surprise that INFINITI is going electric — Nissan have seen the EV sales grow from strength to strength.
"EV is the ultimate mobility solution. More than a million customers have already joined our journey and experienced the fun of a Nissan electric vehicle, and there is no turning back now," says Makoto Uchida, Nissan President and CEO.
Electric luxury in motion
In establishing the overarching direction for the Vision Qe concept, INFINITI's global design team was inspired by three philosophies from Japan:
- Kabuku — the team set out to create a distinctive design that elicits a sense of the extraordinary.
- Sho — in executing its vision, the team sculpted a body that delivers a sense of speed, dynamism and movement.
- Sui — the design is embedded with exquisite details that exude sophistication and purity.
The result is an evocative vision of INFINITI's all-electric fastback sedan of the future.
"As we began to follow the inspiration around Artistry in Motion, we rediscovered the Japanese expression of "Sho," an expression of soaring with grace and power. Our designers began creating forms that, to me, looked like abstractions of a bird in flight – powerful, almost motionless, but generating such speed," said Alfonso Albaisa, Senior Vice President for Global Design. "The sleek, low profile paired with tapered, yet muscular, rear fenders expresses effortless motion and powerful purpose."
INFINITI's recently refreshed visual identity is anchored around the expressive combination of blue and gold hues — clear in the INFINITI Vision Qe concept which is finished in bespoke Shadow Blue paint, a deep blue base coat enriched with lustrous gold highlights. The colour shifts as light and shadow dance across the surfaces, complementing the warm gold illumination. The large wheels are treated in a warm gold that feature a striking geometric pattern inspired by the tightly wound coil of an electric motor. INFINITI's signature double-arched grille too has been reimagined for the EV era, now represented by sculpted lines within the front fascia and illuminated with a bright LED outline.
No clear launch dates have been made available, but visitors to INFINITI's global headquarters in Yokohama, Japan can see the sleek Vision Qe concept on display soon.
