Germany's position as a leading automotive hub makes it an ideal environment for Wayve's latest expansion.

The country's diverse driving conditions—from high-speed Autobahns to urban complexity and winter road challenges—provide a critical testing ground for refining Wayve's AI-driven Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features. Based in Baden-Württemberg, the new facility will focus on enhancing capabilities such as lane change assistance while advancing automated driving solutions for mass production.

Strengthening Germany's automotive innovation

Wayve's presence in Germany aligns with the region's strong focus on automotive innovation and artificial intelligence. With access to a highly skilled engineering workforce, Wayve aims to accelerate its product development while fostering collaborations with German automakers and Tier 1 suppliers, particularly in software development.

Alex Kendall, Co-Founder and CEO of Wayve

Alex Kendall, Co-Founder and CEO of Wayve highlighted the significance of the expansion, stating: "2025 is a year of global expansion for Wayve and we are incredibly excited to establish operations in Germany. With its rich automotive heritage and deep engineering expertise, Germany is a perfect place to accelerate the development and deployment of AI-powered driving technology.

"I look forward to partnering with Germany's world-leading manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers to bring safe, scalable and production-ready AI software to vehicles worldwide."

Dr Patrick Rapp, State Secretary at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism

Dr Patrick Rapp, State Secretary at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg, also welcomed the move, stating: "The State government very much welcomes the planned settlement of Wayve in Baden-Württemberg. Innovations in the areas of vehicle automation and digitalisation are key drivers of the current structural change in the automotive industry and a basic requirement for maintaining the technological competitiveness of the German automotive industry.

"Baden-Württemberg laid the foundations early on to specifically promote the future technology of AI. We cover a diverse spectrum from basic research to application-oriented, business-related research. As a leading developer of Embodied AI technology, Wayve thus meets a network of strong partners and users in Baden-Württemberg."

AI-powered driving at scale

Wayve's expansion into Germany marks a major milestone in its global strategy. Following a successful US$1.05bn Series C funding round and established testing programmes in the UK and US, Wayve aims to position its technology as a scalable and vehicle-agnostic platform that integrates seamlessly into any vehicle.

As automakers increasingly transition toward AI-driven mobility solutions, Wayve aims to position its technology as a scalable vehicle-agnostic platform that integrates seamlessly into any vehicle.

Its next-generation AV2.0 technology moves beyond traditional autonomous driving systems by eliminating the reliance on high-definition maps and complex sensors. Instead, Wayve's AI learns directly from real-world driving data, allowing it to adapt to new and unpredictable road conditions in real-time. This approach enhances safety, efficiency and scalability, making it a transformative solution for the future of automated driving.

Accelerating the future of embodied AI in mobility

With successful deployments in the UK and the US, Wayve's entry into the German market further solidifies its commitment to shaping the future of AI-driven mobility. It plans to leverage Germany's robust automotive ecosystem to refine its technology, deepen strategic collaborations and accelerate the adoption of Embodied AI in the automotive sector.

As the automotive industry moves towards a future defined by intelligent mobility, Wayve's expansion represents a key step in realising the potential of AI-driven vehicle automation on a global scale.
