UTA Edenred enhances fleet management with automatic mileage recording for UTA eCharge, improving transparency, fraud prevention and vehicle valuation

UTA Edenred, a European mobility service provider, has unveiled a new automatic mileage recording feature for its UTA eCharge electric charging solution. Developed in collaboration with Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) provider Deftpower, the new capability will soon be available to UTA eCharge users, marking a significant advancement in fleet management efficiency.

The feature automatically records a vehicle's mileage when charging, with the odometer reading displayed on the next invoice.

By eliminating the need for manual entry, UTA Edenred aims to streamline fleet managers' operations, improve transparency and reduce the risk of fraud.

Pierre Jalady, General Manager of Edenred Mobility EMEA and CEO of UTA Edenred

Pierre Jalady, General Manager of Edenred Mobility EMEA and CEO of UTA Edenred, emphasised the significance of the innovation: "UTA eCharge already provides customers with a comprehensive solution for charging their electric fleet vehicles.

"The addition of automatic mileage recording during charging – a market first – will help fleet managers be even more effective and productive in their roles."

Enhancing transparency and cost control for fleets

The automatic mileage recording feature brings numerous benefits to fleet operators. By tracking real-time mileage data, managers can gain greater visibility into vehicle usage, allowing them to detect irregularities and identify potential fraud.

Regularly comparing mileage with electricity consumption data provides an added layer of security, ensuring that all recorded transactions are legitimate.

Additionally, this innovation aids in assessing the residual value of EVs. Mileage and charging cycles are key factors influencing battery lifespan and with this automated recording, fleet owners can better evaluate the long-term worth of their vehicles.

Jacob van Zonneveld, CEO of Deftpower

Jacob van Zonneveld, CEO of Deftpower, expressed his enthusiasm for the development:

"We're proud to help enhance the utility of UTA eCharge for fleet managers. The way UTA Edenred supports its fleet customers is impressive. There's more to come from Deftpower, which will take the user charging experience to a whole new level."

The automatic mileage recording feature will initially be rolled out for Volkswagen EVs. UTA Edenred has announced that additional vehicle brands will be integrated in the coming months, provided the manufacturers allow third-party access to mileage data.

If a vehicle does not support automatic odometer reading, a manual input option will remain available.
