Nissan Formula E Team gears up for Season 11 with new GEN3 Evo cars, innovative tech and strong driver performances, ready to electrify the championship

The Nissan Formula E Team has completed its pre-season test at Circuito del Jarama, Madrid, in preparation for the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

Drivers Oliver Rowland and Norman Nato and Alpine Academy driver Abbi Pulling had their first on-track experiences with the new GEN3 Evo vehicles, which feature cutting-edge technology set to debut in Season 11.

Oliver and Norman focused on understanding critical updates to the Nissan e-4ORCE 05 cars, including upgraded Hankook tires and an All-Wheel Drive system.

The duo tested the new Pit Boost feature, designed to deliver a 10% energy boost through a quick 30-second charge in the pitlane, enhancing the strategic dimension of upcoming races.

Strong performances on the track

During the final test session on Friday morning, Oliver and Norman showcased their skills, finishing in sixth and 10th positions, respectively.

Over the course of the testing days, Oliver secured seventh overall, while Norman ranked 12th.

Collectively, the drivers completed 389 laps, gathering valuable data to refine their approach for the upcoming season.

Oliver Rowland

Oliver reflected on the experience: "It was a valuable week for us, helping to understand the new GEN3 Evo cars as well as the new powertrain and tyres.

"The tyres are tricky to get into the correct window, but once you're there, they bring much more grip on one lap and should be interesting during the races."

Norman Nato

Norman added: "The final objective of these test sessions is to ensure we have the correct set-up going into the opening round.

"I feel strong in the 300kW mode, which is encouraging, and we'll continue to work on the performance once the power is turned up."

Abbi Pulling tops all women's test session

The Friday afternoon all-women's test session featured Alpine Academy driver, Abbi Pulling.

She quickly adapted to the GEN3 Evo car and posted some impressive lap times as she finished top of the timesheets, showcasing her potential as a rising star in motorsport.

Sharing her experience, she said: "It was an inspiring session and it felt amazing to put what I've learned in the simulator into real life and experience the thrill of driving a Nissan Formula E car. The lap times were strong, which is very pleasing. I'm delighted to have helped the Nissan Formula E Team in the build-up to the new season."

Season 11 kicks off in São Paulo

The 2024/25 Formula E season begins in São Paulo on December 7, 2024, with an exciting double-header in Tokyo, Japan, scheduled for May 17-18, 2025. As the team continues to refine its strategy and technology, Nissan Formula E is poised for another thrilling championship campaign.

Tommaso Volpe, Managing Director and Team Principal of the Nissan Formula E Team praised the week's progress: "It's been a week of learning the new GEN3 Evo technology and we've collected a huge amount of data.

"The All-Wheel Drive system and new tyres have made the biggest difference, so this will be a learning curve for all teams in the build-up to São Paulo. It was also great to try out the Pit Boost on Thursday and we're confident it will bring an extra dimension to the championship."

Nissan continues leading the way in Formula E, using the championship to showcase its zero-emission technology and commitment to electrification. As the first Japanese manufacturer in Formula E, Nissan has been a pioneer, contributing to the series since Season 5 and recently committing to the Gen4 era, which runs until 2030.

Through its participation, Nissan aims to bring the excitement of electric racing to a global audience while leveraging track-to-road technology to enhance its consumer electric vehicles. This aligns with Nissan's goal of achieving carbon neutrality across its operations by 2050.

With vital preparations under way, the Nissan Formula E Team is set for an exciting Season 11, demonstrating innovation, talent and a commitment to sustainability.
