With a growing network of over 3,600 public charging points powered entirely by renewable energy and backed by Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs), Char.gy is addressing a critical gap in the market.

By focusing on the 40% of UK households without off-street parking, the company is ensuring that convenient and affordable charging is available to all.

The ambitious goal is to enable over one million drivers to charge their EVs easily and reliably by 2030.

A milestone for Char.gy

John Lewis, CEO of Char.gy

John Lewis, CEO of Char.gy, expressed his pride in the achievement, stating “We’re thrilled that Char.gy has achieved B Corp certification with a score of 100.2, meaningfully above the 80-point threshold. This milestone is only the beginning - being a B Corp means committing to continuous improvements, with recertification required every three years."

"As part of the process, we’ve also updated our Articles of Association, formally embedding Char.gy’s dedication to goals beyond shareholder profit. This change ensures that our commitment to positive impact and sustainable growth will continue to guide us far into the future.”

Tackling climate challenges

Surface transport accounts for nearly 25% of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions, making it the largest contributor to its carbon footprint.

Char.gy’s work is pivotal in addressing this issue by encouraging EV adoption and reducing vehicle emissions.

Environmental sustainability has been a cornerstone of Char.gy’s B Corp certification journey. Among its key initiatives are:

  • Reducing emissions intensity per charge point, aiming to halve emissions by 2030 from a 2023 baseline.
  • Eco-friendly manufacturing practices to minimise embodied carbon in its products.
Emma Walford, Founding Partner of Perigon Partners

Emma Walford, Founding Partner of Perigon Partners, commended Char.gy’s sustainability efforts, stating:

“In supporting Char.gy with its sustainability strategy, it’s been clear how deeply rooted their values are. Char.gy doesn’t just set ambitious goals - they act on them through supply chain improvements or their forward-thinking workplace policies. Their B Corp certification is richly deserved, and I’m excited to see how they continue to lead the charge in their sector.”

Beyond sustainability: Fostering a great place to work

Char.gy’s commitment to positive impact extends beyond environmental goals.

The company has cultivated a supportive and inclusive workplace, earning recognition as a Great Place to Work in 2024.

The achievement reflects Char.gy’s investment in industry-leading workplace policies, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction, reinforced by its ISO certifications.

Looking Ahead

Char.gy is poised to expand its social value strategy, delivering meaningful benefits to the communities it serves.

Guided by the principles of B Corp certification, Char.gy will continue its mission to create a cleaner, greener future while inspiring businesses across industries to align profit with purpose.

The milestone marks an achievement and the beginning of a journey toward continuous improvement, innovation, and impact.
