Porsche's partnership with ChargePoint will see its EV infrastructure expanded rapidly
Porsche’s partnership with charging infrastructure provider ChargePoint is set to deliver an increase in charging options for EV owners in North America

German automotive giant Porsche is positioning itself at the forefront of the electric future, channelling efforts into not just ingeniously designing new EV models but also expanding a robust charging infrastructure.

Crafting a comprehensive ecosystem around electric vehicles, the emphasis falls heavily on establishing a dependable and widespread charging network crucial for alleviating range anxiety among users.

Since 2024, Porsche has partnered with ChargePoint, a prominent entity within North America's EV charging infrastructure landscape.

This collaboration has seen the integration of more than 97,000 ChargePoint stations into Porsche's Charging Service, allowing drivers wider access to charging facilities.

As a result, Porsche customers in the US now have access to 102,000 charging stations, with plans for further expansion in 2025.

Comprehensive network integration

The partnership with ChargePoint goes beyond merely integrating its stations; it offers access to additional networks in the ChargePoint ecosystem including EV Connect, EVgo, Flo, EvGateway and Ionna, thus creating a more comprehensive charging framework.

This expands upon Porsche's existing alliance with Electrify America. With the My Porsche app, drivers have a simplified process to locate, use and pay at most J1772 and CCS1 charging stations.

ā€œWe passionately believe in choice, and as a result we are constantly looking for opportunities to enhance our customer experience and expand charging options,ā€ Timo said last year when the partnership was first announced.

He and his team have well and truly delivered on that message in 2025.

Strategic timing

Porsche's successful execution aligns strategically with its broader electrification objectives. This initiative was unveiled concurrent with the launch of the new Taycan at Porsche Centres, followed by the introduction of the Macan Electric.

"ChargePoint is honoured to help Porsche provide their drivers with a charging experience that aligns with the rest of their renowned brand experience," says Rick Wilmer, CEO of ChargePoint.

"We are pleased to offer more charging options for Porsche drivers, and ChargePoint software will enhance their experience by enabling integrated and frictionless charging."

Ensuring a seamless charging interaction correlates with ChargePoint’s commitment to fostering electric mobility.

With this integration now operational, owners of Porsche EVs and PHEVs can access more than 75% of the available charging ports across North America, as per the US Department of Energy's Alternate Fuels Data Centre.

For Porsche, this development is pivotal in supporting its array of electric vehicles and elevating the user experience of its electrified models.
