BYD prioritises safety in advanced EV technology development
EV company BYD was founded in 1995 and is headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China.
BYD, which has been recognised by EV Magazine as a top EV company, boosted EV production by an impressive 200% in 2022.
The company’s most popular vehicles come from its Dynasty series and include the BYD Qin, which was one of four BYD vehicles to make the recent Top 10 Electric Cars list — no surprise as the manufacturer ceased production of ICE vehicles in 2022 to purely focus on EVs.
New safety technology – specifically for new energy vehicles
BYD has developed one of the most advanced body control systems in the automotive industry today. The DiSus Intelligent Body Control System has been developed exclusively for NEVs (New Energy Vehicles, i.e. plug-in hybrids and fully electric vehicles) and designed for maximum agility, safety and peace of mind in all types of driving conditions.
“The BYD DiSus system is the first self-developed intelligent body control system launched by a Chinese automobile company, marking the breakthrough from zero to one. The BYD DiSus System will further secure the globally pioneering stance for BYD in the industry”, says Wang Chuanfu, Chairman and President of BYD.
Chuanfu founded BYD in 1995 after graduating in Physical Chemistry of Metallurgy from Central South University of Technology, China and gaining his master’s degree in Materials from the Beijing General Research Institute of Nonferrous Metals.
The BYD DiSus System significantly improves the driving experience for its users, and was developed in-house, making BYD the first Chinese car manufacturer to own such a system.
Unlike solutions only focused on a single technology or the improvement of a single component, BYD offers a systematic solution to manage lateral, longitudinal and vertical vehicle movements. The DiSus System minimises roll when cornering and reduces the displacement of occupants during high-speed cornering, heavy acceleration and emergency braking. In addition, the DiSus System can protect the vehicle from scratches and damage due to excessive amounts of snow, mud and water.
