Vietnamese EV manufacturer VinFast produced 200,000 vehicles in 2025, as well as setting the record for the most sales in Vietnam’s automotive history

Vietnam's transport sector is responsible for 18% of the country's annual greenhouse gas emissions according to the International Energy Agency.

Vietnamese EV manufacturer VinFast produced 200,000 vehicles at its Hai Phong plant in 2025.

This achievement follows a period of more than 12 months during which VinFast has maintained its position as Vietnam's top-selling automotive brand.

The manufacturer indicates it anticipates closing the year with the highest sales volume and market share ever achieved in Vietnamese automotive industry history.

Leading Vietnam's EV market

The 200,000 EVs manufactured at VinFast's Hai Phong facility encompass both domestic sales and vehicles destined for international markets.

The company has outlined ambitions to "lead the EV revolution" globally, having established international showrooms across the US, Canada and Europe in 2022.

VinFast has commenced operations at three additional manufacturing facilities, situated in Ha Tinh, Vietnam, Tamil Nadu, India and West Java, Indonesia.

The 200,000th vehicle to roll off the Hai Phong production line was the company's Limo Green model, a seven-seater electric MPV that has gained considerable traction in Vietnam's EV market.

In November 2025 alone, the Limo Green model achieved sales of 9,642 units, establishing a new monthly sales record for a single vehicle model.

Trinh Van Ngan, Deputy CEO of Global Manufacturing at VinFast, says: “Producing 200,000 electric vehicles in 2025 at the VinFast Hai Phong plant alone is a testament to the capability and relentless dedication of more than 18,000 employees working at the facility.

“This is a highly meaningful milestone that strengthens our confidence as we pursue even more ambitious goals ahead.

“With the expansion of our manufacturing footprint into key markets such as India and Indonesia, I am confident that VinFast will achieve even faster and stronger growth in 2026 and the years to come.”

Expanding Vietnam's charging infrastructure

Founded in 2017, VinFast is Vietnam's first domestically owned car company and electric passenger vehicle manufacturer.

The company is developing a nationwide network of fast-charging stations to facilitate the broader adoption of EVs throughout Vietnam.

VinFast opened its 335 hectare Hai Phong facility in September 2017, which features a paint shop, press shop, assembly shop and engine shop.

The initial investment totalled US$1.5bn for the first phase, designed to manufacture passenger vehicles, electric buses and electric motorbikes.

The Hai Phong factory was constructed in just 21 months, with the facility's manufacturing capacity projected to reach 950,000 vehicles annually by 2026.

The plant operates with support from more than 1,200 ABB robots and maintains an automation level of approximately 90%.

Le Thi Thu Thuy, Chairwoman of VinFast, says: “Electrification is an irreversible trend worldwide.

“VinFast cannot be left out of this global movement.

“There’s a huge potential in front of us. If we can materialise that enormous opportunity, then we can be really big.”

During December's peak production period, the Hai Phong factory ran at maximum capacity, manufacturing nearly 26,000 vehicles across the month.

VinFast reached a daily production record on 14 December 2025, with 1,062 vehicles completed on the production line.

According to VinFast, this level of productivity could be comparable to some of the world's largest gigafactories.
