BYD showcases the EYT 2.0 Electric Yard Tractor, featuring advanced Blade Battery technology and a robust design for efficient port operations in Europe

BYD, a global leader in new energy vehicles, has introduced the latest generation BYD EYT 2.0 Electric Yard Tractor to Europe at IAA Transportation 2024.

The electric tractor is designed for enhanced operational productivity in ports, terminals and logistic intermodal parks, aligning with the transition to eco-friendly electric solutions.

Designed for Europe

The BYD EYT 2.0 Electric Yard Tractor has a new design tailored for European markets.

The concept includes the brand's signature X-design front face, a robust grille, and muscular air intake vents, giving the vehicle a dynamic yet practical look. The contrasting two-tone body and bumper further accentuate its new energy credentials.

Blade battery technology

At the core of the EYT 2.0 is BYD's acclaimed Blade Battery technology. The cobalt-free battery uses Lithium Iron-Phosphate (LFP) for superior thermal stability. The battery has undergone rigorous testing, including the Nail Penetration Test, proving its durability.

With a 216.7 kWh capacity, it powers the tractor for up to 16 hours and delivers a peak motor power of 260 kW. The vehicle can charge DC from 20% to 80% in just one hour, ensuring optimal productivity between shifts.

Built on a high-strength rigid frame, the BYD EYT 2.0 boasts a Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) of up to 75 tons, making it ideal for heavy loads. It features an innovative integrated bridge technology and a 5th lifting wheel for seamless coupling and decoupling.

With a towing capacity of up to 64,800 kg, it offers exceptional pulling power. The grip coupling valves at the vehicle's rear allow quick hook-up in under 15 seconds, making it perfect for fast-paced operations in ports and terminals.

Manoeuvrability and safety

The EYT 2.0's short wheelbase ensures agile cornering, reducing the need for repeated reversing and enhancing safety.

Equipped with EBS braking, Traction Control and Electronic Stability Control (ESC), it provides stable driving on various road surfaces.

The Drag Torque Control (DTC) system helps prevent the wheel from slipping on low-traction surfaces, adding an extra layer of safety.

Comfort and visibility

Driver comfort is a priority in the BYD EYT 2.0. The addition of rear air suspension reduces vibrations, while the insulated cab minimises noise levels. The spacious cab has a height of 1.9 metres, allowing drivers to stand upright.

The ergonomic design includes a curved dashboard, adjustable ventilated seating and a sliding rear door for easy access. Safety features such as a heated interior rear-view mirror and a wide field of vision enhance the driving experience.

Designed to operate in extreme temperatures ranging from -20℃ to 50℃, the BYD EYT 2.0 is built for durability and has a life expectancy of over 10 years.

It has various driver assistance and safety features, including tyre pressure monitoring, overcharge reminders, and a VDO Tachograph.
