bp pulse & DPD are upgrading charging infrastructure across UK depots, driving fleet electrification to support DPD's net zero sustainability goals

In a significant step toward advancing sustainable logistics, bp pulse and DPD have announced a strategic agreement to transform DPD's EV charging infrastructure across its UK depot network.

The partnership highlights the companies' shared commitment to driving the transition to a greener future.

UK EV charging network upgrade

The partnership will see bp pulse modernise DPD's existing charging capabilities while installing new rapid (DC) charging stations across dozens of DPD UK depots.

The move aims to support DPD's rapidly growing electric fleet, which currently includes nearly 4,000 EVs—representing over 35% of its UK van fleet.

The collaboration is well underway, with the first phase of installations already live at 14 key locations, including strategic hubs in Edinburgh, Leeds, Glasgow, Liverpool and Middleton.

An additional 16 sites are earmarked for early next year, with further expansions scheduled for 2025. These upgrades are part of DPD's broader strategy to establish a robust, nationwide charging network supporting its growing EV fleet.

Pioneering sustainability goals

As part of Geopost, DPD is committed to achieving a ‘2040 Net Zero' target, a goal validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). DPD UK has confirmed that its progress is on track to meet the ambitious target.

Tim Jones, Director of Marketing, Communications & Sustainability at DPD Group UK, highlighted  the importance of the partnership: "At DPD, we are committed to our net zero journey and the transition of our fleet to EVs has been a top priority for several years."

Enhancing depot and public charging access

The depot-focused initiative builds on the existing partnership between bp pulse and DPD.

Currently, DPD drivers benefit from preferential rates at bp pulse's rapid and ultra-fast public charging network, which includes an expanding array of dedicated charging hubs.

The comprehensive approach enables DPD drivers to seamlessly access both on and off-site charging options, ensuring uninterrupted operations and maximum vehicle uptime.

A blueprint for sustainable logistics

By combining DPD's leadership in sustainable logistics with bp pulse's expertise in electric charging solutions, the partnership is setting a new standard for large-scale fleet electrification.

The initiative accelerates DPD's fleet transition and serves as a model for other businesses aiming to adopt EVs.

"We have proved over the last six years that EVs can perform incredibly well within our operation and this partnership will enable our depots and drivers to operate as efficiently as possible going forward."

Tim Jones, Director of Marketing, Communications & Sustainability at DPD Group UK

With the partners firmly aligned in their vision, bp pulse and DPD drive meaningful change in the logistics sector, creating a more sustainable future for parcel delivery and beyond.
